Buzz has been circulating for a while now about the inevitability of the ubiquitous Microsoft Office suite of applications, coming to Apple’s ubiquitous iPhone, but now it seems word has gone from inevitable to imminent, meaning soon. This coming off subtle but telling words from a Microsoft exec (President of Microsoft Business Division Stephen Elop) to an interviewer (Tim O’Reilly) at the recent Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.

Palm has launched its Palm Pre Smartphone with WebOS on it. However it seems like iPhone will still be on top of the throne for a while as users will have more choices with iPhone from Apple when it comes to applications. iPhoe ffers better graphical user interface for the users than the Palm Pre which still rely on keyboard to interact with its users for certain applications.Palm Pre is geared towards a different user group than iPhone, and its market segment is much narrover than iPhone.
